Start the week at The Raz for cheap drinks and Monday fun. It’s a debauched student favourite and an old Beatles haunt. Every Tuesday at Bumper, you can enjoy one of the longest serving student nights in Liverpool (“the student night that is no longer a student night but a movement!”); Wednesday nights are spent at Medication or the Level, which is one of the biggest clubs in town. On Thursday, don’t miss the hip hop night at Juicy, or if that’s not your scene, then “there’s no place like Garlands”. The basement and cheap drinks at Heebie Jeebies make for a fun Friday; head to Krazyhouse on a Saturday for warehouse party fun (two for one drinks!) and round off the week at Popworld on Sunday for old school tunes.
Botan Kebab House on Berry Street has been voted the UKs best, so make it your last port of call before bed. Liverpool’s small enough and safe enough (named one of the safest places to live in the whole of the UK) for an easy walk home, though a taxi from the city centre to The Artesian, Norfolk House, Queensland Square or Parliament Place will rarely set you back more than £5.
If live music is more your thing, browse the listings at The Arts Club or The Shipping Forecast. Listen to local music at The ‘Dovey’ on Penny Lane on Thursdays, or enjoy a spot of jazz at The Grapes on a Sunday night. Pick up a free copy of BidoLito! magazine to keep up to date with Liverpool’s flourishing music scene.
Liverpool is the proud home of Europe’s largest free music festival. Enjoy 4 stages of live music all weekend at LIMF in Sefton Park for FREE! It doesn’t end there – Sefton Park also hosts Africa Oye – a free African music festival in June.
With all this free fun, your student budget will stretch far next year.
